Okey, lets start with my expectations. The Strokes is definitly one of my favourite bands, I love their weird alternative rock image. The best album they made was "Is This It", probably the best frist album ever. After an album like that, it can only go one way. Down. But luckily for me(and them), it didn't! They made two amazing albums, and with my hand on my heart I can say that I love all their songs.
What did I think about the album? I could never say a bad word about the band or about their music. I love them with all my heart. Even tho I liked the three other cd's better. If I would grade this album, I would give it a four or five(from 1-6). They have some really likable songs, like "Machu Picchu" and "Under Cover of Darkness". The song "Metabolism" kinda remind me of Muse, but in a very good way. "Call me back" would be something between Radiohead and The Strokes. The song "Gratisfaction" was kinda cool. A minus with the song have to be that its too easy. I think the setup is so usual, but at the same time its very catchy. And "Gratis" actually means free in norwegain. What do you think abou that? Free-faction?
If I was to give you guys a tip, that would be to BUY THE ALBUM. And take a listen to these songs:
Typical The Strokes: "Under Cover of Darkness", "Life is Simple in the Moonlight"(The Strokes with a weird, but cool twist)
Simple, but catchy song: Gratisfaction
Catchy Carribian style: "Machu Picchu"
MUSE-ish: "Metabolism"
