Music Review: Jonas Alaska

This must be the CD of the year, and im not saying this because Jonas Alaska is from Norway. Like me. I just feel that his songs really appeals to me. This album is full of emotions, its naive and it has an intimacy that I think is rare. Jonas is a student at the Paul McCartney school in Liverpool, and can be associated with The Wombats.

The genre is pop and country, and its got a touch of melancholy. "October", a song which is both happy and sad. I do thing the organ sounds really nice in this song. The radiohit is called "In The Backseat", and its a funny and soft song, and when I listen to it I can see the landscap passing the car window. "Morning Light" reminds me of my hometown, and I think that Jonas' voice in this song is amazing. At this point I think calling his Bob Dylan is weird. His voice is clean and soft, and its really comfortable to listen to it. The vocals in "Dark At Last" is also really good.

Jonas Alaska is often compared with his idols Bob Dylan and Neil Young, but I do think that Jonas' abilities and talent makes his something rare and uniqe. His charming appearance; with his hat, cowboy rope/necklace, harmonica, guitar and big kind puppy eyes. Its hard not to like this guy. After the horrible thing that happend in Norway this summer I guess we all needed something like this. Jonas Alaska was in the right place at the right time.
